On Tuesday, December 7th, was the AID FOR AIDS "My Hero Gala."  This year's gala celebrated Award Recipients Professor William A. Haseltime and Ruben Blades, musician, actor and activist.  “This year’s honorees are innovators in the battle against HIV and AIDS, and are true humanitarians,” Jesús Aguais (founder of AID FOR AIDS INTERNATIONAL) said. “These heroes had the courage to make a difference. We owe them enduring gratitude as we continue the fight against HIV and AIDS.”

Since 1996, AID For AIDS INTERNATIONAL has worked toward its mission of empowering people living with HIV and AIDS by promoting access to treatment, knowledge and social reform. AFAI has redistributed over $60 million in ARV (Antiretroviral) medication to developing countries, has reached more than 1.2 million teenagers in 8 countries annually with primary prevention education, and has forged partnerships with governments and organizations around the world to salvage tens of thousands of bottles of medication. AFAI Founder and Executive Director, Jesús Aguais created the MY HERO AWARDS program to recognize the humanitarian achievements of individuals who have greatly advanced the organization's core mission.
